Rizwan is undeniably the best thing about My Name is Khan. Shah Rukh’s performance has little subtlety about it – for that watch Hugh Dancy doing Asperger’s in Adam – but it is heartfelt, endearing and more controlled than anything he’s ever done before. Watch him in a lovely scene in which Kajol accepts his proposal or how he restrains his tears so that his eyes brim but never well over.
I recommend that you see Khan for him. The film itself is too uneven to give us the emotional high we were waiting for.

Director Karan Johar, the visionary that he is, injects new life into the stale Bollywood drama genre by introducing a mentally handicapped leading man and his loving wife, only to pull the rug from under us by transposing their roles when you least expect it. Kajol is brilliant and this time her eyes do a lot more tlaking than her words. Watch out for the change in emotions reflected so beautifully in her eyes as the film goes through its turmoils. The screenplay clearly shows that both Shibani Bathija and Karan Johar have done their research and done it well. You can see that in SRK’s mannerisms and in the bigger picture.
But the true credit of the film goes to only one person – Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh Khan carries the story entirely on his shoulder without any crutches of make-up and prosthetics, his signature lover boy image left at the door along with the designer clothes or larger than life dialogues.

We were very lucky to watch the world premier of MNIK in Abu Dhabi at the Emirates Palace with the trio, Shahrukh, Kajol & Karan Johar. I was realy moved by this movie. SRK’s performance is exceptionally good. Kajol is good as usual. This is not a typical KJ movie with lots of glitz and glamour or the dance sequences. It is a unique film which will touch everybody cos it has a very positive message.
MNIK is a gr888888 movie…..a must watch!!

He has crossed the higest bar any actor has laid so far.. And set a standard even higher for the new generation of actors.. Since he is one actor proving his metal everytime when he is a part of the film.. His character Rizwan Khan is so beautifully portrayed by him, It leaves all of us on the other side spellbound..!!! srk is great!!!!this movie is undoubtedly worth seeing….
i watched the movie…and the first thing that came into mind after coming from hall was that of punjabi food…which is decorated nicely and quite healthy as well but over filed with oil and spice same is the case in SRK’s megafilm MNIK which has a strong theme and many emotional touches. But the first half was not upto the expectation. may be karan johar couldn’t work tht out but srk especialli in second half is superb and no second thought on kajol she is superb in the whole movie….other actors also did well.
so its a emotional love story – cum – releigious basd story..even a tough guy like me could not stop himself from gettin senti
bottom line is that it is a must watch movie….

I’m no Bollywood or SRK fan(atic). In fact I’m a bit biased towards Amir Khan… BUT MNIK IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME…and the SRK/media/politics provides enough masala outside the cinemas! You’ve got to enjoy the package…so what if a few politicians are left with bloody noses. The best I have seen from Bollywood.

horrible!! shear torture to sit through this long movie. the acting was really good, but the story was not! could have deleted many of the unnecessary scenes. the president scene at the end was so far fetched and the hurricane scene was really bad-both content and cinematography. why would religious uprising start 7 years after 9/11? couldn’t feel for the characters…could only feel for myself and hoping it would end soon!!!

Nothin more u can expect from this trio… More realistic and the ones who havent watched it,dont miss it…I pity the shiv senas for having missed this one,who knows ur leader must have already seen it… so dont be morons!!!

I saw the movie here in Canada and just loved it. Award winning performances. A must see movie on the large screen.
However if the producers of the movie want the American and Canadian mainstream audience to watch it they need to plug the movie on Oprah Wnifrey , David Letterman and the other popular talk shows. Where I went to see the movie it was all Indian NRIs. This movie deserves to be watched by an universal audience.

MNIK is a very commercial film no differnt than any other bollywood movie. IT is over hyped and boring at times. The director has done an average job and knows that casting big names will bring returns anyways. Two points:
1. Why did the movie have the sudden “SRK getting stabbed in the end” scene> I think the story was smooth and SRK could have met the Eagle in Georgia but I didnt understand the concept of him getting stabbed by a fellow Muslim. Was it really required? I felt bored.
2. When SRK is released from the prison, Mandira leaves in a taxi without meeting him. If she didnt wanna see him, why was she even in that city?
Karan Johar did a poor job editing the movie and publicizing it. I do not understand why everyone involved with the movie keeps saying it is a love story blah blah. It is more of a film based on racial differences. I dont understand why the moviemakers dislike admitting that.
When I watched 3 idiots, there wasnt a single frame when I wanted to miss anything even with the blink of my eye. But with MNIK, I felt bored through certain scenes.
Karan Johar experimented to beat his own stereotype but didnt succeed very well. SRK has acted well and I think is the saving grace for the film. Poeple who are his huge fans and who are not, will all watch this movie anyways. And even if everyone watches it once, it makes more than required in returns. But it is unfare to call it a masterpiece. This time, it’s the director who lets it down and not the actors.

This movie has been an eye opener for me I felt so little as I am guilty of judging a Muslim and Islam itself after everything happening in the world realizing neither are the cause for what is happening today. I went to see Kajol and SRK and it was Karan Johar’s movie and thank you guys this movie is the first step for me to understand Islam and Muslim brothers and sisters. I dont know about others but this movie has changed my point of view, never thought a movie can do that. Might sound a bit too much but i dont care what people think but this a movie is on top of my list.

I have never been a SRK fan because I always felt that SRK is a type actor…you watch one of his movie and you can pretty much safely say you watched all of his movies.
But after watching MNIS, I must say that I have placed him right next to actors like Amitabh Bachan and Amir Khan. I think he finally decided to act (dair ayad durust ayad).
The music is addictive and intoxicating. I can’t stop listening to SAJDA and TERE NAINA. I beleive Shankar Ehsan Loy are the best music directors that India has to offer (Allah Rakha Rehman is over-rated) , I am especially mesmerized by Shankar’s talent.
Karan Johar is a good director but I very strongly condemn unnecessary inclusion of 2 adult situations of sexually explicit material. It was inappropriate, unnecessary and looked so cheap (resembled Raj Kapoor’s perversion). I went to watch this movie with family including my 15 years old daughter and felt quite uncomfortable by these adult scenes.
Over-all, It is a best work of Karan+SRK+Shankar Ehsan Loy and the greatest singers of our time, Rahat, Shafqat, Shankar and Richa.

Karan Johar has done an artistically good job (but intellectually dishonest!) of taking some instances that happened around 9/11, and blowing it totally out of proportion, which incidentally also happened in the movie “NY”.
The movie also tries to make common cause with Hindus and Sikhs depicting them also as victims, which is utterly mischievous. No doubt, there have been instances of mistaken identity due to which Hindus and Sikhs were targeted, but such instances were very few and far between.
But, while movies are movies, they surely do go a long way in moulding public opinion, especially where people are ignorant, and many times with financing from the mafia, that’s part of the covert agenda!
From my own experience, Americans are by far the most reasonable of people, and I firmly believe that they have every right to safeguard their country from dangerous elements not just from outside, but more importantly from within its borders. In the process even if there is a chance that an innocent person could occasionally get caught (most often due to his/her own stupidity or suspicious behavior), the judicial system in the US and the west are strong enough to make it extremely unlikely for that person to be found guilty.
Unless the Muslim community in America (& the west) adopts a more transparent attitude, lets law enforcement to do their job of weeding out would be terrorists/sympathizers hiding in their midst whom they themselves are reluctant to give up, and stops crying foul on every security measure as an assault on their religious freedom, Muslims as a community will continue to be looked upon suspiciously.
This movie is going to kick up a lot of debate, and rightfully so!

SRK and Kajol rocks once again as ever….And I love both of Them. And Karan thanks for your direction of the movie…without which this could not have been possible….

What a load of twaddle? On one hand he’s trying to send a message of persecution of Muslims, then he’s in love with a hindu girl [Kajol]; then he want’s to meet the President of US; then he wants to save a flooded town in US, at the same time he has this hamburger [Asperberger[ Syndrome, tries to be funny like Mr Bean [doesn’t really succeed] etc, etc!

Dustin Hoffman did it in Rain Man, Hrithik Roshan did it in Koi Mil Gaya, and a lesser known Hugh Dancy did it in last year’s romantic flick Adam. You may have already guessed it by now, SRK delivered a nearly perfect performance as an Asperger’s Syndrome affected being who is not so normal yet normal. It’s a story of a man’s grit and love, a woman’s grief, motherly love and how the world changed post 9/11 for a certain religion. Studded with strong dialogues, brilliant acting by SRK and powerful performance by Kajol MNIK doesn’t disappoint you. With all the initial brouhaha and hype about the movie it stands tall while delivering the message, which for me was more from an angle which says, “I though m not normal but I can achieve what you normal beings think many a times to, be it be loving someone, or standing for what is right”.

I saw MNIK, it is a real waste of time and money. First half is tolerable but not the second half. Kajol is far better an actress compared to SRK. SRK cannot act……. his style of dialogue delivery is worse. A sincere request to the director and producers of this movie, please don’t project this in international film festivals as the greatest movie ever made in India. People will laugh at us. Big B, Aamir, Abhishek and Ajay are such intense actors. They make people believe that they are the characters onscreen. SRK sucks, I’m sorry SRK. Please stop all this hype on MNIK and SRK. 3 Idiots and Paa are really wonderful movies compared to MNIK.

I thought the movie was HORRIBLE! POINTLESS to watch! There was no signifance or moral to the story what so ever! As usual Bollywood movie the movie was stretched far beyond it could ever go.

I don’g get the story behind the boy dying, I just thought that was cruel, i did not hear of any case of a boy being killed after 9/11 just because he wsa musilm. Bullied yes, beaten, yes, torchered yes, but killed!!! And also I think the story was just just so exaggerated it made 9/11 seem like fictious too!! PBC is not a HINDI speaking news channel. I was very dissappoineted with the movie, i would rate it 1/10. What a waste of my $10!!!! That was my initial thought after I walked out from the movies.
Sadly Kjo screwed up the movie. 1st half was like hollywood, 2nd was like B grade hindi. How can one explain, an autistic, who, when it comes to general things he is not normal (asks kajol ‘lets eat’ during a tragedy. but when it come to religion he is a perfect man with all the emotions intact (a la namaz at busstand or at mosque he even interprets Koran! but is clueless on wordly matters, strange)in another scene in Geogia he is able to beat hurricane and reach church, so are his people and tv crew who also reports!! but help never reaches there, strange. In USA, in a school they teach Islam as a bad religion! wonder which school! As usual he tries his best to make people cry by ‘inducing’ scenes which is typical of Kjo but somehow the plot did not need that kind of presentation. Why did he have to romance with the subject (post 9/11 …impact onmuslim, trying to make a point ..the hijab scene where she wears it again)when we all were on same page in the 1st half, the second half was totally one-sided so much so americans were made to look villianish. cud have been subtle like the 1st half. final product a crap movie

At first I would like to say MNIK is a very good movie, one of Shah Rukh’s finest actings…. For the people who hv abused MNIK and praised for 3 idiots, I wud lyk to tell you that 3 idiots is undoubtedly a great great movie, bt how u ppl can compare a comedy movie to a dramatic one lyk MNIK, its quite obvious that comedy movies will be watched by ppl more…. MNIK appears more a movie of an actor who had two goals:
1. Firstly to re-live the first hand experience at the hands of US immigration authorirites few months ago and try to gain sympathy out of the same.
2. To try and show to the world at large that he can do whatever BIG B can do. By playing a person suffering with Asperger’s syndrome, he tried to match BIG B’s performance in PA, but looked more like a person suffering with Inferiority complex than any syndrome.
It is hightime Mr. SRK that you start acting on your own grounds a la CHAK DE INDIA and SWADES where you were matchless than trying to do whatever BIG B does. Remain your ownself rather thah trying to wear the shoes of BIG B. ABhsishek would take care of those shoes.

Its amazing, without any additives of typical masalas, MNIK is a mind-blowing experiences even some shots reminding Tom Hanks Forrest Gump. Thanks a lot to Karan and team, after a long while the movie characters are hunting us.
MNIK is undoubtedly is a very good movie. Its been a long time since we actually get to see a good drama, very well balanced with its emotional and yet logical aspects. It has a very different kind of love story based on humanity. IT HAS A VERY GOOD STORY LINE AND DIRECTION. It is good to see that films are made which not only aim to entertain the mass but convey a message that “IS DUNIYA MEIN SIRF DO KISAM KE INSAAN HOTE HAI:BUREIN AUR ACHCHE!” Aspergus may be a isorder in one’s health but isrimination is an epidemic. Stop it. Support Khan, support an indian; be humans and watch MNIK!…..U R WORTH IT!
I talked about the NDTV award show and the anchor Sonya Singh’s response to Shahrukh Khan’s little jig on the stage, to some friends here in California. All of them were as appalled as I was when I saw the show and of course felt let down that India’s leading news network could be so callous. I couldn’t agree more.
