My Name is Khan : Slumdog kid to play Jr Shahrukh Khan
Child actor Tanay Chheda has been a part of some fabulous films in his young career. He played Darsheel Safary’s best friend in Taare Zameen Par and was the middle version Jamal in the Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Now he has landed another high profile project My Name is Khan and he will be playing the child avatar of Shah Rukh Khan’s character!
The 12-year-old, who played a young Jamal in Slumdog Millionaire, will feature during the childhood scenes of Khan’s role.
After seeing Tanay’s fabulous performance in Slumdog Millionaire Karan Johare decided to offer him the role in My Name Is Khan. Describing his part in the film, Chheda said “It’s a small role and a very important film. And it will be shot during my holidays. Except My Name Is Khan, my parents have decided to let me concentrate on my studies.”
My Name Is Khan is based on a true story and concerns Rizwan Khan, a Muslim man who was arrested in Los Angeles after his disability was mistaken for ’suspicious behaviour’.
Tanay Chheda,has decided to focus on his studies and keep movies aside for a while. Except for his next big project with Shahrukh Khan in My Name is Khan, in which he plays a young Rizwan Khan, he has no other movies in the waiting.
